Hehe, I like these strips :)
We now get to see more of these two characters, more sides to them. Roomie isn't just a sex addicted hippie and Lillian's not just a deadpanned and sleepy introvert. They both have their qualities and flaws, and they're being pulled by each others' opposite yet complementary personalities. The perfect yin and yang balance :)
And onto little critiques on the strips above: Roomie's way of peeling a potato :D I could've used reference to make it more believable but clearly I diiiiidnnn't!
Remember artists! References are GOOD. They make you practice from real life which is GOOD. They give you clear indication as to how things work which is GOOD. I plan to use way more references for my next webcomic because I know very well I have a tendency to skip using them when they can give so much volume and depths to your drawing!
Aha, here's an example, from Headless Bliss but either way it works!
Don't mind the third image where it was just me having fun with it :D
But I can promise you that the hand I had initially drawn for that panel looked wayyyy worse than after I drew it WITH reference! Usually I'm okay with hands, since I've drawn so many from observation way back then (when at art school we had to draw 50 sketches a week and for so many weeks I only did hands) but for this panel I just couldn't get it right. And I'm so glad I used that reference!
--> This is a rerun of the finished webcomic Go Get a Roomie! You can find these two strips in the old archive >here<!
