A goodbye without any more confusion or spite, perhaps a twinge of regret of what could have been a beautiful friendship growing up, if Matt hadn't wanted to force something, out of insecurity. 

Now Lillian has someone in her life that fills her with tenderness, and love, and reminds her that she's worth all of that, and more.
