And here was the moment I had been waiting for: a way to backtrack and explain why Lillian didn't seem to know Steve wayyy back in the start of the comic, since it's been mentioned that Allan and Steve knew each other for a long time, it didn't make sense that Lillian never met Steve.
So that's the excuse I went for: Lillian ignored Steve's existence because she really liked him as a kid, and saw him and Allan kiss once and then was shocked and felt betrayed (by her brother as well: since she had no father, a mother who slowly but surely was less and less available for her kids, only her brother remained by her side. So seeing him starting to hang around someone else and spend more of his time with them could feel like a small betrayal to kid Lillian)
In a way... huh! I didn't realize this until now, but in a way, it was thanks to Roomie that Lillian got to make peace with Steve once more: since Roomie knew Steve, Lillian was able to approach him once again but through another relationship and so she could start afresh with Steve.
I mean, hey, this was something that was made up as it went, GGaR had plenty of those moments, but now that I'm thinking about it and finding all these different interpretations, I'm almost convincing my own self that this all could have been planned from the start and not made up on the spot! Hah!
