Evelyne feels like she has to mark her territory, it seems. She must have an insecurity of some kind, to want to afront Steve in such a manner. Not easy for everyone to share their partner like that! But they also probably haven't communicated enough between the three to find a better understanding and balance. (that and maybe Eve's just... trying to convince herself she's not starting to find him charming) 

But we'll get to that in later chapters ;)

Right now, it's all about group sex and missed opportunities for group talks.
