Why do oblivious characters work so well in comics? They're used pretty repeatedly for punchlines and such, I'm guessing because of how obvious the facts are to everyone (including the reader), and so it's funny? Or at least, it gives the readers a sense of being in the know, of being part of the majority of the comic characters in knowledge and good sense, of being part of a group.
I'm just winging an analysis of comic moments don't mind me!
