I seem to remember originally having Aggie tell Ramona that there's a beauty spot or mole on Roomie's butt somewhere (that only women sleeping with Roomie would know about). I wonder why I changed that. Maybe Ramona's drawing was too small in the panel for it to be clear enough that it was a naked Roomie she was doodling. And "perkier boobs" felt more explicit? Who knows!
This was an important strip for me, to write Roomie's dialogue about exactly how she perceived things back then. Because I shared this vision too and couldn't really find it elsewhere. Not in many books, movies, comics, if at all. So it was important for me to put it out there, so my comic could give readers new things to think about, or relate to.
That's something that's still important to me nowadays: sharing an idea, a thought, a point of view that's forgotten or denied by the big boys media. Or just not very popular. Though I like to mix these things with more widely appreciated topics, like naked boobs!
GGaR did this with Roomie's special life of style in its very first strips, in sometimes provocative ways, and sometimes profound ways. (though the profound parts would come a little later)
GGaR tackled other subjects later on, other ways of life and thoughts and feelings, sometimes in an impactful way, and other times in a more awkward way.
GGaR did its best, and that's all I can ask it :)
Oh and fun fact! Someone thought Roomie's knee in the last panel was a huge penis. Now you can't unsee it. Have fun!
