Now for this part, I feel like I could've done things differently. Rereading it now, I feel it's a subject (a particularly sensitive one at that) that popped out of nowhere, a bit suddenly, and for what purpose? I think originally, I thought it was an efficient way to change perspectives from one strip to the next, giving a new context to this new character and Ramona's request that spins it all into an unexpected twist. Breaking a stereotype that a guy *would* be the one into rough sex in an alley, and have the character identifying as a woman (at that point in the story) to be the one encouraging it, then have this last bit of info about new character's trauma through his mother's experience...
But it's a bit much, wouldn't you say? I think one of my weaknesses (that comes from wanting to break stereotypes) is when I force things too much one way, because I think it's a good idea in the moment, but don't give myself enough time to question the meaning of it.
Though it's not always easy with webcomics, especially ones that update regularly every week, to schedule that in. There are a lot of advantages that comes with webcomics, and the deadline it gives me is one of them, but at the same time it encouraged me to just head on with whatever ideas popped out without necessarily giving me much time to ponder on it.
--> This is a rerun of the finished webcomic Go Get a Roomie! You can find these two strips in the old archive >here<!
