Ach, see, in the first strip, second and third panel, the "color" of the pipe is too close to the color of their clothes, and so isn't giving the readers a clear enough image of what's going on. The pipe's lost in the background and too difficult to discern. 

Ideally, and I know I've said it a thousand times by now, you want things to be baby butt clear as to what's happening in your comic. Unless the confusion is part of the story. Which in this case, isn't.
