To clarify: the "story of the little tear" (the name of the chapter) was playing on the words "tear" as in there's a ripped tear in the panels, that widen as time goes, to represent Lillian's growing kind of depression/dissociation. And of course "tear" as in the crying sad kind.

It also refers to Lillian with the acronyms "L.T" ("Little Tear").

I always enjoy little references like that ;)
